What is aquaponics?
The idea behind aquaponics is simple: fish waste feeds your plants, and your plants clean the water for your fish. A container of fish creates natural waste, which becomes nutrient-rich water. That water flows into a plant bed filled with hydroponic media, where the plants absorb the nutrients directly through their roots. By the time the water drains back into the fish tank, it's been filtered clean — and the cycle starts again.
There are dozens of ways to build a system, from small countertop setups to full greenhouse operations. Aquaponics Texas focuses on smaller-scale systems — the kind that fit in an apartment or a home garden — because that's what most people are actually working with, especially in Texas heat.
